Sibylla Rubens, Sopran

„Her soprano voice sparkles like a diamond“ German daily WAZ wrote about Sibylla Rubens’ interpretations of J.S. Bach. She takes „the difficult richly ornamented arias with captivating smoothness and confers grace and warm-heartedness in them“.

The soprano, concert singer and interpreter of lieder studied singing at the State Academy of Music in Trossingen and at the State Academy of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main as well as with Elsa Cavelti in Basle and in the lied class of Irwin Gage in Zurich.

In more than 90 CD recordings by now, Sibylla Rubens documents her mastery as an outstanding Bach performer (interpreter). But she also surprises with recordings which extend well into the romantic repertoire.

She is a frequent guest at international Music Festivals and concert stages where she performs with internationally renowned baroque ensembles, chamber orchestras, the Munich Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, Radio Orchestras WDR/SWR/MDR/NDR/SR, their choirs and conductors like Ton Koopman, Philipp Herreweghe, Helmut Rilling, Rudolf Lutz Bach Foundation St. Gallen, Sir Roger Norrington, Frieder Bernius, Reinhard Göbel, Riccardo Chailly, Michael Gielen, Christian Thielemann, Ivan Fischer, Kent Nagano, Enoch zu Gutenberg and many more.

Moreover, lieder recitals, chamber music and ensemble work are one of her particular concerns.

Sibylla Rubens taught the oratorio classes at the Leopold-Mozart-Center of the University of Augsburg in 2014 - 2016. She was active recently at the „XX International J.S.Bach Singing Competition in Leipzig 2016“ as member of the jury

In addition to her concert engagements Sibylla Rubens is a sought-after capacity and distinguished expert and coaches numerous young professional singers in Master Classes and individual supervision.
